When does the PYF football season start?
Practice sessions begin the week of August 10th. (5:30pm-7:30pm) If there are any changes to these date they will be noted on the website.
PYF & Cheer run an annual "canning" fundraiser which is vital to our program being able to keep up with the purchases of new gear and safety equipment. Please note that the dates are often pre-season as we need to obtain permits and approval from the towns and stores and we are allotted times that we are able to fundraise on behalf of our organization. We ask that all players participate in these events.
Where do we practice and how often?
At the Pines Fields in Groveland , 227 Main Street next to Town Hall and Library.
Prior to the start of the school year we general practice each day during the week usually starting at 5pm. Once school begins, practice days may vary by level. For example, the A team(8th only) may practice 4 night a week, walk thru on Saturday morning, and game on Sunday. The D team (3rd and 4th graders) might practice twice a week, walk thru on Saturday and game on Sunday. This is flexible to allow kids the time to absorb concepts they need to have for game days.
When are the games and where?
Games are played mostly on Sunday with an occasional Saturday game. Home games are normally played at the Pentucket High School field, however for the 2020 season due to the PRMS-HS construction project the home field will not be available.PYF is currently assessing options for home game field space for the 2020 season. Away games are usually at opponents HS fields.
How many games do we play and when does the season end?
Typical seasons are at least 9 games with a few scrimmages before the 1st official game. The season finishes up by the first or 2nd week in November depending on playoff advancement at some levels.
When are equipment handouts? (2020 dates will be posted asap)

What equipment do I need to purchase?
PYF supplies everything except a mouthguard and cleats. We recommend football specific cleats with rubber or plastic spikes. No metal cleats are allowed. All players should have a water bottle for all practices and games.
What should players wear to practice?
Coaches or league emails will send info on what to wear to practice. An example is the first week we will just wear helmets, shirts, and shorts. After that full uniform will be standard but changes should be communicated by your coach.
What if your child plays more than one sport in the fall?
Pentucket Youth Football expects all players to be focused on football during the season. If your son plays other sports during the football season and is unable to attend most practices it will have a negative effect on their playing time.
How are players assigned to teams?
Players are assigned by age and ability after a two week evaluation period. See CAYFL Bylaws for more details which can be found under the Documents section in the left vertical column on the PYF website.
